Designed to capture the feeling of home as much as the scent of it, Smells Like Design Therapy is warm, grounding and quietly luxurious — an inviting blend inspired by comfort, calm, and the layered beauty of lived-in spaces.
With notes of honey, tobacco and spice, this custom fragrance is softly rich and beautifully balanced — a scent with warmth, depth, and just enough intrigue.
Hand-poured on Vancouver Island in small batches, each candle is crafted with a premium blend of coconut, soy and beeswax for a clean, long-lasting burn. Made with toxin-free ingredients and paraben- and phthalate-free fragrance, it’s designed to scent your space beautifully while burning cleanly and evenly.
Created as an exclusive extension of our brand, this candle was thoughtfully developed from the scent profile to the final pour in collaboration with a local, female-led maker we deeply admire.
More than a candle, it’s a little piece of Design Therapy — meant to bring warmth, nostalgia and a sense of retreat into your everyday.

Below are some essential tips on burn time, safety, fragrance release, and maintenance, ensuring that your candles not only burn beautifully but can maintain their elegance and sophistication to your space for as long as possible.
- Burn Time : If possible, burn for at least 2 hours, or until the wax melts to the edge of the jar. This is done to extend the life of the candle burn time. It’s recommended to not burn candles for more than 4 hours
- Safety Tips : It’s best to keep 1/2 inch of wax and wick remaining. Avoid burning your candle to the bottom. Practice caution when a candle is lit, avoid moving a warm vessel or touch the wick of a burning candle.
- Fragrance Release: The warmed wax releases a complex fragrance known as ‘heat throw’, more detailed than the initial cold scent when unlit known as ‘cold throw’.
- Candle Wax: Coconut, Soy, and Beeswax candles ensure a clean, long-lasting burn, free of soot and harmful ingredients.
- Wicks: We use cotton wicks that are environmentally friendly, light easily, and support a longer, cleaner burn.
- Candle Frosting: Frosting occurs when the wax melts and cools, attempting to return to its natural state. This can happen after the first melt or when temperatures fluctuate. This is a natural occurrence in 100% natural wax candles, frosting does not affect the candle's performance.
- Wick Trimming: Always trim your candle wicks to ¼ inch before lighting. Be sure to remove any debris, such as previous wick trimmings, before re-lighting.
- Extinguishing: We recommend extinguishing a candle using a candle snuffer. Always wait for your candle to cool before placing the lid back on
